Support Groups:

Virginia

Hello, I am Agnes Killough from the TM Support Group of Virginia.  I have been filling in for Pam New while she has been recovering from some challenging physical issues.  Our support group has had a busy year and we are really proud of our accomplishments.  In February we had a group luncheon and ten people attended.  Pam New introduced us to each other, and we had one new member.  In May we had a meeting in Chesapeake and eight people attended.  Pam also organized this meeting.

This year we have had eight new cases on the Eastern Shore.  We are trying to get a new Easter Shore Group started.  We have been circulating our flyers in neurologist’s offices and at the hospital.  If you are from this area, and would be interested in participating in this group, please get in touch with us.

Two of the projects that our support group is working on are a bowling night fundraiser and the establishment of a Transverse Myelitis Awareness Day for the State of Virginia.  Pam has been working with one of our state senators to draft and have a resolution adopted by the General Assembly.

Our support group also designed and adopted a logo this year.  If you log onto the TMA web site and click on the link for the logo store, you can now purchase Virginia TM Support Group items from Cafépress.  This is a great way to show your pride in our support group, raise awareness of TM and the TMA, and also raise much needed funds for our Association.

Blessings
Agnes Killough
