The Texas TM Support Group Coalition

The Texas TM Support Group Coalition was established in February of 2003. The Coalition is starting out small, but growing in numbers. Since Texas is so large, we have divided up the state with different contact people in different areas. Our hope is to form a group of people who can be a resource for each other in their local communities, as well as support on a state level. So far, the contact people are:
Cossy Hough, Central Texas
Barbara Lamb, Dallas/Fort Worth
Bob Cook, Houston
Nita Frier, Abilene

There have been two meetings of people with TM in Austin. The first meeting was held in February and the second in May. There were six people with TM who attended each meeting and some attendees brought friends and family members. Attendees have traveled into Austin from as far away as Houston and Waco. We discussed many topics, from how we were diagnosed, to symptoms and limitations, to physicians in the area.

The Texas TM Support Group Coalition established a website in April and plan to expand the site to include more resource information. We also hope to have more meetings this year and to create a system that can advocate for people with TM in Texas.

We are looking for contact people for other areas of the state, including East Texas, The Panhandle, West Texas and the Valley. If you are interested in becoming a contact person, please get in touch with Cossy Hough.
