First Annual Texas Roll-A-Thon
Barbara Lamb

Hello fellow TMer's. My name is Barbara Lamb. I am the TM Support Group contact person for the DFW area in Texas. I am planning a huge fundraiser called the First Annual Texas Roll-A-Thon to raise money for research and awareness for The Transverse Myelitis Association. The event consists of a two-mile trail by The Ballpark In Arlington here in Arlington, Texas. It will be held September 27, 2003. After the event, there will be a barbeque catered by Sonny Bryan Barbeque, which is only for the first 200 people who register. During the barbeque, we will be raffling off a handmade commemorative quilt made by my mother, as well as other items which have been donated.

We hope to make our first year's event a big success, so if you feel like joining us in Texas or live close by, please put us on your schedule. We appreciate all of the volunteers or participants we can get. If you want any additional information, please e-mail me at texasrollathon[AT SIGN]yahoo.com.

Given the publication schedule of the TMA Newsletter, I have no way of knowing whether this newsletter is being delivered to you before, during or after Barbara's First Annual Texas Roll-A-Thon. If it is before and you live in Barbara's area, please try to participate and attend. If it is going on right now, please hurry down to the stadium. If it is after September 27th, darn, I was afraid that was going to happen. Barbara, I'm really sorry. But it is not too late for next year. Remember, this is the Annual Texas Roll-A-Thon. Please get in touch with Barbara and offer to help her with the planning of next year's event. Please get involved and participate in this wonderful fundraiser. Barbara and I would love to have the Texas TM Community make this into an annual awareness and social event, in addition to becoming a successful fundraiser for the Association.

Barbara got TM as an infant. She is a quadriplegic. Barbara is a very independent and wonderful and young and vibrant 20-something year old. She is a college student in graphic design. I met Barbara a couple of years ago with an exchange of emails and phone calls. She is a whirlwind, full of great ideas, lots of energy and enthusiasm, and charm and talent. Please get involved in Barbara's work. We owe this to Barbara, and we owe it to the people of the TM community who so much deserve the important research that will be made possible by this great project. Barbara and I are so appreciative of your generosity!
