Making Donations
to the TMA On-Line: from the United States and Internationally
NetworkForGood.org
Making a Contribution On-line within the US
Helping.org was developed by the AOL Time Warner Foundation to serve
the nonprofit community by providing comprehensive online resources and
tools to help nonprofits integrate the power of the Internet into their
strategic planning and to organize, recruit, fundraise and publicize
their mission and successes online. Helping.org was used as a
foundation to build the Network for Good Web site. Helping.org has
joined Network for Good (networkforgood.org), a coalition of leading
Internet companies and nonprofit organizations that has developed
extensive online resources and tools to make it even easier for
individuals to donate, volunteer, speak out on issues and make more
informed decisions about supporting the causes they care about.
If you live in the United States, you can make donations to The
Transverse Myelitis Association by visiting NetworkForGood.org – Jim
has also created links to this site from the TMA web site. The TMA will
receive 100% of your donations. We pay no fees, charges or commissions
on the contribution. Network for Good covers all of the transaction
costs associated with collecting and distributing contributions,
including the fees charged by the credit card companies. When you make
a contribution using Network for Good, you may specify how you would
like your donation to be used; Network for Good passes along your
request with the donation. For instance, you can specify that you would
like your donation to be used for the general operating costs of the
TMA, such as for the printing and mailing of the newsletters; or you
can request that your donation be used for TM research.
You can dedicate donations to someone or make donations on behalf of
another person; Network for Good passes along the dedication request
with the donation. Individuals are also given the option to send an
e-card to the person for whom they made the donation.
Network for Good does not accept in-kind donations, such as clothes,
cars or other items. You can use Network for Good, however, to locate
charities in your area that may accept in-kind donations. In addition,
MissionFish.com, an online auction site, enables users to donate
in-kind items for auction with the proceeds benefiting charity. Other
sites such as InKindex.com and
GiftsInKind.org also offer information on making in-kind donations.
When you make a donation to the TMA using Network for Good, your credit
card statement will show Network for Good’s name instead of the TMA.
Please be assured that 100% of your donation goes directly to the TMA;
the transaction and credit card verification is processed by Network
for Good and PipeVine. You will receive a record of your contributions
for tax purposes.
